THE DEATH
&
PRIESTHOOD OF CHRIST
And every
priest stands day after day ministering and offering
time after time the same sacrifices, which can never
take away sins. But this man after offering one
sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand
of God.
Hebrews 10:11-12

v
Transubstantiation & the real
presence

There is no
indication in the biblical accounts of the Last Supper
that the disciples thought that the bread and wine
changed into the actual body and blood of Christ. |
v
The Priesthood
A common thread that runs throughout the
experiences of former priests is this: we had a great
yearning to be different.

v
Eat my flesh and drink my blood
As with each of the seven miracles in
John’s Gospel, Jesus uses the miracle to convey a
spiritual truth. |
v
Is
it right to say that God died on the cross?

The title "God"
refers to the Triune God, in the Persons of the Father,
Son and Holy Spirit. They did not all die for our sins. |
v
The Cross of Christ
To better understand the
significance of Christ’s death it is worthwhile having a
closer look at the ceremonies performed during the Old
Testament.

v
No more sacrifice for sin

It is a serious thing to
know about Christ and His sacrificial death, and then to
reject it. |
v
The Mass from Mystery to Meaning
As I sought a clearer understanding of
this mystery, my search led me to the Sacred Scriptures. |
u
Is
the Mass the real sacrifice of
Christ?
Despite almost forty years in the
Catholic Church and experience as a catechism teacher,
he didn’t know that the Mass was supposedly the actual
sacrifice of Christ. Neither did he realize that he was
not only attending Christ’s sacrifice, but he was
participating in it. |
v
The Bread of Life
Jesus said, 'I am the
bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger,
and he who believes in Me shall never thirst” (John
6:35).
